The 2024 National Chinese Language Work Conference was held in Beijing on Apr. 3. Chen Jie, Vice Minister of Education and Director of the National Language Commission, delivered a keynote speech.
Chen emphasized the crucial role of adapting Chinese language initiatives to meet the demands of China’s high-quality economic growth this decade. He emphasized the significance of language work to China’s goal of becoming a leading country in education as well as the opportunities that have arisen as a result of China’s national strategy of encouraging new productive forces.
He stressed that the Chinese language must be strengthened in order to achieve educational modernization. In this regard, he emphasized the use of digital technologies, the preservation of Chinese cultural heritage, the promotion of Mandarin and the writing system, and the overall execution of the Plan for Building China into a Leading Country in Education.
At the conference, representatives from various education departments and institutions shared insights, alongside officials from the National Language Commission, provincial education departments, and other relevant bodies.
